Our Culture

“A big diverse family…”: In describing BCI, one of our site leaders recently called it “a big home”. She said: “In this home, there are many family members, of different character, ages, backgrounds and nationalities. Though we sometimes disagree, the basis in which we resolve conflict is with grace.  We accept our differences with others.” We laugh, live, work and persevere day in and day out. Diversity is one of our strengths with over 170 nationals and expatriate staff from more than 12 countries and various professional backgrounds!

“…with shared vision and values…”: With so much diversity, what unifies us? Our Christian Vision and Values! Regardless of our background, everyone in BCI wants to care for the poor, share knowledge and love people. We are constantly on the look-out for new opportunities to serve in areas of greatest need – whether it be bringing water to those who have none, caring for medical needs of those without healthcare, finding homes for orphaned and disabled children, or helping farmers help themselves.

“…who believe that ‘who’ comes before ‘what’”: What matters in our organisation are people. Projects come and go, but what’s important is whether we are leaving behind strong relationships and communities, with matured people who continue to live out our vision. As a result, you will find us to be one of the most accepting and encouraging groups – embracing who you are called to be and what you are called to do. We are on a constant journey – it is not easy, but we are committed to improving.
